Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois resumed individual training on Friday, August 8, and continued with exercises on Sunday, August 9, ahead of team practice to ensure full recovery from his World Cup quarter-final injury sustained against Spain. Courtois explained he returned early 'because, due to the injury, I wanted to ensure I was entirely fit through individual training before reuniting with the team,' focusing on goalkeeping drills and reporting he felt 'excellent, overjoyed to be back.'

The Belgian international praised new head coach Jose Mourinho's approach as 'the right path' to achieving glory, describing the Portuguese tactician as 'an exceptionally strict coach' who prioritizes discipline and the team over individual players. Courtois added Mourinho is 'very approachable,' 'speaks the truth as it is,' and whose demeanor he appreciates, stating 'I believe this is the direction we need to pursue.'

Highlighting their successful history at Chelsea where they secured the Premier League title, Courtois expressed hope for effective collaboration: 'I have fond memories with him, and we hope to collaborate effectively and enjoy wonderful years here.' He cautioned against pushing too hard early in pre-season, warning 'If we push ourselves too hard at the start, we risk early injuries,' and noted 'We will quickly regain our fitness because we did not have an extended break, and we will be in good shape,' as Real Madrid prepares for the upcoming season under Mourinho's leadership.
