Craydel expands to Ghana, expands edtech support for Nigerian students abroad
Kenyan edtech startup Craydel has launched operations in Ghana, extending its presence to eight African markets that already include Kenya, Nigeria, Uganda, Rwanda, Zimbabwe, Burundi and Tanzania. The platform uses an AI-powered matchmaking tool to help students search, compare and apply to universities overseas, partnering with more than 600 institutions across 50 study destinations. Craydel said it has raised over $2.5 million from investors such as Enza Capital and Angaza Capital and earns commissions from universities for successful placements, making its service free for students.
For Nigerian students, the Ghana launch signals a deeper regional footprint that could improve local support and broaden options for those seeking undergraduate or postgraduate places abroad. With more than 400,000 African students leaving the continent for higher education each year, the expanded network may increase competition with established players like ApplyBoard and IDP Education, potentially driving better service or lower costs.
Nigerian students interested in using Craydel can visit its website or mobile app to create a profile, explore matched universities and begin applications. The company plans to complement its online tool with local student advisory services and partnerships with Ghanaian schools, a model it may replicate in Nigeria. Prospective users should verify any partner institutions and keep an eye on upcoming webinars or local events announced via Craydel's social channels.
