Cucurella urges patience with Mourinho at Real Madrid after two early LaLiga losses

Real Madrid defender Marc Cucurella stated it's too soon to criticize manager Jose Mourinho following the team's losses to Real Betis and Atletico Madrid in their opening seven LaLiga fixtures. Speaking at a press conference on Friday, October 3, 2026, Cucurella insisted Los Blancos must be judged at season's end, noting some players had only a week-long pre-season before campaign start.

The Spanish international quoted directly: "At Madrid, we have just started with a new manager, and it's too soon to speak. Some players only had a week-long pre-season before starting. The beginning of the season hasn't been what we all hoped for, but it's a process, and we will see where we are at the end of the campaign." These comments come as Mourinho's second stint at Bernabeu sees Madrid six points behind Barcelona.

For Nigerian football followers assessing early-season performances, Cucurella's defense raises a key intelligence question: Should Mourinho's tactics and results be evaluated now, or does the defender's call for patience align with how managerial success should truly be measured in football?
