Dangote Projects N1,100 Naira-Dollar Rate by Year-End
Aliko Dangote, Chairman of the Dangote Group, projected the naira could strengthen to as low as N1,100 per dollar by year-end 2026, driven by Federal Government industrial reforms. Speaking at the Nigeria Industrial Policy launch in Abuja on February 17, 2026, Dangote noted that while the currency currently trades at N1,340, sustained appreciation depends on reducing imports and boosting local manufacturing. He warned that deliberate government intervention to weaken the naira for revenue purposes could hinder this progress. The Vice President and other officials attended the event. Analysts caution that exchange rate outcomes depend on oil prices, capital inflows, and global conditions. In related news, billionaire Femi Otedola projected the naira could fall below N1,000 per dollar by year-end, citing the Dangote Petroleum Refinery's potential to reduce fuel imports by 75 million litres daily.
