Dangote Refinery’s initial public offering, which opened on September 14, has been extended by two weeks and will now close on October 27, 2026, after strong interest from eligible investors across Africa and other markets. Each share costs ₦525 (about $0.40), and the company plans to sell 4.1 billion shares to raise roughly ₦2.15 trillion ($1.6 billion). The extension gives retail investors more time to buy shares, amid growing demand from other African countries seeking cross‑border participation.

This matters because the refinery is one of Nigeria’s largest strategic assets, and owning shares lets Nigerians directly benefit from its operations and future profits. The wider opening also tests how easily African investors can buy shares across borders, with Kenya and Zimbabwe already setting up local channels for participation. A successful, broadly subscribed IPO could deepen Nigeria’s capital market and encourage more local listings.

Investors can place orders through licensed stockbrokers or authorized online trading platforms, and the offer remains open to both retail and institutional participants.

Will you use the extra two weeks to invest in Dangote Refinery, wait for more clarity on market conditions, or direct your funds toward other investment opportunities? Consider your financial goals, risk tolerance, and whether owning a stake in the refinery aligns with your long‑term plans.
