Dangote Refinery IPO launches at N525/share, calls on jet owners to invest
Dangote Refinery’s Initial Public Offering went live on the Nigerian Exchange Limited on Monday, September 14, 2026. The IPO is priced at N525 per share, offering 4.1 billion new ordinary shares for a total value of N2.15 trillion, with a minimum subscription of 10 shares costing N5,250. Speaking at the launch, Aliko Dangote urged owners of private aircraft worth around $900 million to channel that wealth into productive ventures in Nigeria, saying the nation cannot become great without doing something productive. He shared that he bought his first private jet at age 22 and a half. The offer also notes that investors could see a return of N50 million on an N5 million investment. Separately, MRS announced an increase of N85 per litre in fuel price. The IPO provides Nigerians a chance to own part of Africa's largest refinery while Dangote’s call challenges the wealthy to invest locally rather than in luxury assets. Will you take up the IPO offer, or redirect luxury spending into productive ventures like the refinery?
