After weeks of anticipation, the Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals FZE Initial Public Offer (IPO) has gone live. The public offer commences on Monday, September 14, 2026, with 4.1 billion new ordinary shares priced at ₦525 per share. This translates to a total offer size of approximately ₦2.15 trillion.

The IPO represents one of the largest capital-raising events in Nigeria’s history, aiming to fund further expansion of the Dangote Refinery, which is already touted as Africa’s largest petroleum refining facility. Investors, both retail and institutional, can now subscribe through authorized stockbrokers and the Nigerian Exchange (NGX). The offer period is expected to run for several weeks, subject to regulatory approvals and subscription levels.

Analysts note that the pricing reflects confidence in the refinery’s operational readiness and future earnings potential, especially as the facility begins to process crude oil and produce petroleum products for domestic and export markets. The success of this IPO could set a benchmark for future mega‑projects seeking public funding in the country.

Will you consider allocating part of your investment portfolio to this IPO, or do you prefer to wait for the refinery’s first-quarter performance before deciding?
