President of Dangote Refinery Aliko Dangote said the 700,000-barrel-per-day facility can contribute $100 billion toward President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's goal of a $1 trillion Nigerian economy by 2030, representing 10% of the target. He made the comment on Wednesday, July 28, 2026, during a visit by Minister of State for Industry Senator John Owan Enoh to the refinery site. Dangote said the $1 trillion target is achievable and that the refinery's output will help deliver that share.

The refinery, expected to process 700,000 barrels per day, could boost government revenues, reduce fuel imports, and stimulate downstream industries such as petrochemicals and power generation. By delivering $100 billion, it would directly support job creation, foreign-exchange savings, and industrial growth, all pillars of Tinubu's economic agenda. The minister echoed that the refinery is vital to achieving the national economic target.

Readers should note that the refinery's full operational capacity and its actual fiscal contribution depend on timely completion, stable feedstock supply, and effective policy support. Monitoring project milestones, government incentives, and global oil-price trends will be key to assessing whether the $100 billion contribution materialises by 2030.
