Davido demands $500k per show for joint Wizkid tour, doubts hit song potential

Davido says he would charge $500,000 per show for a joint tour with Wizkid, confident every venue would sell out worldwide. Speaking on the IONWANNATALK show today, he expressed far less certainty about a collaborative single becoming a hit, pointing to D'banj and 2Baba's joint record that "didn't really pop" as a cautionary example.

The Afrobeats superstars haven't recorded together in roughly a decade. Davido clarified this wasn't due to inability but rather not sharing the same mental space, noting public debate over whether their rivalry elevated them or if collaboration would boost careers further. He framed moving past disagreements as maturity: "I felt that way at some point but not anymore, and it takes a great man to do that."

A joint tour at $500k per date would position them among the highest-grossing African acts globally. For context, Burna Boy's 2023 world tour averaged $300-400k per arena show. The financial upside is clear, but the creative risk remains—fans have waited years for a Davido-Wizkid track that might not deliver the expected cultural moment.

Would you pay premium prices for a tour headlined by both, or is the real value in them finally releasing that one song together?

Over time, I've come to realize that Davido is one smart dude. If he's not sure he wants to collab with Wizkid on a track... he don think am. E no work. Having both heavy hitters on a track doesn't guarantee it will be good.
