The Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (rtd), has warned Nigerians to ignore a fraudulent housing scheme falsely using his name, official title, and photograph to solicit public subscriptions and payments, primarily through WhatsApp groups. He emphasized he has no connection to any investment programme or financial venture seeking public funds, as stated in an Abuja-issued statement signed by his Special Assistant on Media, Leah Katung-Babatunde.

The Minister's office described this as an attempt by individuals or groups to mislead Nigerians and extract money from unsuspecting members of the public. They urged citizens to disregard all advertisements, social media posts, or promotional materials using his identity for housing projects or investment schemes, warning that perpetrators face swift legal action and prosecution by security agencies.

Nigerians are advised to verify the authenticity of any housing or investment opportunity before making financial commitments, especially when public officials' names or images are used. The office urged reporting suspicious messages to law enforcement authorities and cautioned that such unauthorised exploitation will be met with zero tolerance, including arrests and prosecution for pecuniary gains through deception.
