Daveigh Elizabeth Chase, who voiced Lilo in Disney's Lilo & Stitch, died at age 35 on Wednesday, June 18, 2026. Her manager John Ryan Jr. confirmed to BBC News that she was hospitalized in Los Angeles for severe malnourishment and later developed meningitis and bloodstream infections leading to sepsis.

The former child star began acting at age 4 and booked her first Hollywood role at 7. She retired from full-time acting in 2015 but remained memorable for her Annie Award-winning performance as Lilo in 2003 and continued voicing the character in franchise media.

Ryan described Chase as private, saying she 'was not very Hollywood' and preferred simple meals at Bob's Big Boy while working with cat rescues. Her death follows a period of extreme weight loss that led to the malnutrition diagnosis.

The entertainment community mourns the loss of the actress known for both her Disney voice work and horror film roles. She was 35.
