Former Cross River State governor Donald Duke is among three presidential aspirants cleared by the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) for tomorrow's nationwide primaries scheduled for May 25. Duke joins Nnaoke Ufere from Abia State and Yakubu Kingsley from Edo State in the race for the party's presidential ticket.

The PRP commended the aspirants for demonstrating commitment to democratic ideals by agreeing to abide by the outcome of the primaries. Over 260 aspirants are contesting various elective positions nationwide with the party, though consensus arrangements may apply in some areas.

Duke served as Cross River governor from 1999 to 2007. With PRP's primaries just a day away, the party reaffirmed its commitment to conducting transparent and free nomination processes as preparations intensify for the 2027 general elections.

As Nigeria's political landscape takes shape for 2027, will PRP's emphasis on internal unity and democratic processes translate into electoral success against major parties?
