Dr. Awele Elumelu Urges African Entrepreneurs to Trust Their Global Potential
Dr. Awele Elumelu, Chairperson of Transcorp Hotels Plc, Avon Healthcare Limited and Heirs Insurance Brokers, urged young African entrepreneurs to believe in their potential, stating the continent has world-class talent capable of global competition with proper support. Speaking earlier today at an entrepreneurship event, she cited African artistes like Tiwa Savage, Burna Boy and Yemi Alade featuring on a Beyoncé album as proof of Africa's exportable excellence.
She emphasized that African excellence extends beyond music to agriculture, ICT, fashion, healthcare and other sectors - mirroring the Tony Elumelu Foundation's belief that Africa holds 'hidden gems' needing only support, training and seed capital to become global leaders. Elumelu stressed success requires discipline, resilience and consistency, telling young Africans: 'You owe it to yourselves, your families, your communities and Africa to put in the hard work, build resilience and keep at it until you succeed.'
