The suspect was reportedly intercepted on Wednesday at a motor park in Kano while transporting the ammunition from Lafia, Nasarawa State, to Kankara in Katsina State. The consignment was believed to be intended for bandit groups operating within the forest areas of the North-West. googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1524595905268-5'); }); According to AIT, security sources disclosed that “the arrest followed actionable intelligence, which enabled operatives to disrupt the supply chain before the delivery could be completed.” During interrogation, Usman allegedly confessed that she had been involved in the illicit trade for about two months. She reportedly revealed that the ammunition was supplied by an individual identified as “Teso,” who is said to be working in collaboration with a soldier based in Lafia. The suspect also disclosed that she had facilitated transactions worth about N5 million, supplying ammunition to several individuals, including a bandit leader identified as Mallam Haruna. The DSS described the operation as a significant breakthrough in ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks fueling insecurity in the North-West. Security agencies have since intensified efforts to track down other members of the syndicate linked to the arms supply chain.
