Politics Ebonyi: Factional ADC chairman, Onu dismisses suspension, threatens court action Published on April 24, 2026 By Casmir Nwankwo googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1500386953281-8'); }); Factional Chairman of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, in Ebonyi State, Barrister Silas Onu, has dismissed his purported suspension from the party. Onu threatened to drag those involved in the “purported” suspension to court. The suspension was reportedly announced by the Acting Chairman and Secretary of the ADC in Obiozara Ward. googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1524595905268-5'); }); In a statement he issued on Friday, Onu said, “Grounds for his suspension include financial exploitation of party members, thus painting a picture of me as a fraudster without justification or basis. “People are free to play politics however they feel is just for them. But where that insanity extends to attacking the reputation of another person without lawful or reasonable justification, both the makers of such statement and the publisher will be held liable in a defamation suit. “I have asked that the identity of these individuals and their addresses be ascertained, so that my lawyer can immediately contact them with my intention to sue for defamation. “This will afford them the opportunity of establishing their allegations that I am a fraudulent person. “For the avoidance of doubt, not a single Ward in Ebonyi State has an Acting Executives, as election have been held across all 171 Wards with substantive leaders now running the affairs of each ward. The Chairman of Obiozara Ward is Mr. Godwin Njoku and he will never lend himself to such an infamous activity.” Reacting to the suspension, Chairman of ADC Ohaozara LGA, Engr. Chinedum Elekwachi, stated that Peter Obinna and Akuma Martins, who signed the suspension letter as Chairman and Secretary, Obiozara Ward, are neither known or registered members of ADC. According to Elekwachi, the duly elected Chairman of ADC in Obiozara Ward is Mr Godwin Njoku. “There is nothing like “acting chairman” at ward level and in the entire Ebonyi State ADC structure,” he said.
