EFCC has successfully recovered N27 million belonging to Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) following a 15-year property dispute involving estate agents. The funds, originally paid in 2011 for Abuja properties intended as the university's liaison office and guest house, were finally recovered in April 2026 after the transaction failed due to administrative and legal complications.

The university had been unable to take possession of the buildings despite multiple resolution attempts, prompting intervention by the anti-graft agency. EFCC investigated the case for two years before recovering the funds and remitting them to the institution. The commission has also charged suspects connected to the transaction to court.

FUNAAB Vice Chancellor Olusola Babatunde Kehinde commended the EFCC's efforts, stating the recovery represents both a significant institutional achievement and part of the commission's success story in safeguarding public resources. What institutional safeguards should universities implement to prevent similar property disputes in future transactions?
