The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission released two Nigeria Democratic Congress activists supporting Peter Obi on Wednesday night after detaining them for approximately 11 hours. The activists, identified as Randy Peter and Precious Oruche (popularly known as Mama Pee), were invited to EFCC headquarters on Tuesday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. for questioning. Fellow activist Justice Cracks, who accompanied them, confirmed their release occurred around midnight and noted they were asked to return on Thursday for further engagement. The detention sparked social media concerns over their whereabouts before their eventual release. Both individuals are prominent online activists known for their support of the former Anambra governor's presidential campaign. The questioning centers come amid heightened political tensions ahead of the NDC's planned activities. No charges have been announced publicly as of now.
