President El-Sisi and CIA Director Ratcliffe met in Cairo on September 20, 2026 to discuss ongoing crises across Africa and the Middle East. El-Sisi reaffirmed Egypt's support for resolving the Iranian crisis through regional security agreements and freedom of navigation, while backing Arab states' sovereignty and rejecting aggression against them.

He emphasized Egypt's role in international frameworks for the Sudanese crisis aimed at ending war, alleviating suffering, and pursuing political settlement. On Somalia, he insisted security and stability must be reinforced without infringing on sovereignty. El-Sisi also urged Palestinian protection, humanitarian access, and resumption of political settlement based on two-state solution.

Ratcliffe praised Egypt's peace efforts in Africa and Gaza ceasefire, stating Washington will enhance cooperation with Cairo for Middle East stability. He highlighted strengthened CIA-Egyptian General Intelligence Service collaboration in security, intelligence, counterterrorism, and transnational crimes, with GIS Director Hassan Rashad attending the talks.

For Nigerians, this signals continued Egyptian leadership in African peace initiatives that influence regional stability affecting trade routes and security cooperation. Egypt's positions on Sudan, Somalia, and Palestine align with Nigeria's foreign policy stances, suggesting potential coordination on continental peacekeeping and diplomatic initiatives.

Will you consider how North African stability impacts Nigeria's security partnerships, or view Egypt's diplomatic balance between Western alliances and African interests as a model for regional engagement?
