Everest Okoro takes command of 6 Division in Port Harcourt, vows to sustain oil output gains
Major General Everest Okoro has officially assumed duty as General Officer Commanding of the Nigerian Army's 6 Division and Land Component Commander of Operation DELTA SAFE, taking over from Major General Emmanuel Emekah during a change of command ceremony earlier today at the Division's Headquarters in Port Harcourt. The transition was announced in a statement by Lieutenant Colonel Umar Adam, Acting Deputy Director of 6 Division Army Public Relations.
In his farewell address, Emekah expressed appreciation to officers and soldiers for their discipline, loyalty and support, specifically noting that the Division's operations contributed to increasing Nigeria's daily crude oil production from about 1.3 million barrels to 1.5 million barrels per day. The ceremony featured the traditional military handover elements: signing of handover notes, presentation of insignia, decoration of the new GOC with the Divisional Badge, presentation of the Divisional Flag, and a group photograph.
