Everton seal €45m deal to sign Folarin Balogun from Monaco with add-ons
Everton have agreed a club-to-club deal with AS Monaco to sign American-born striker Folarin Balogun for a €45 million fixed fee plus €5 million in add-ons, including a sell-on clause. Balogun, who came through Arsenal’s academy, will replace Beto, who has moved to Serie A side Fiorentina. Personal terms are still being negotiated, but the transfer is expected to be completed soon.
The move marks Balogun’s return to the Premier League after his stint in Ligue 1. For Nigerian fans, the transfer is relevant because Balogun is eligible to represent Nigeria, the United States, or England at senior level. His regular playing time at Everton could influence his international future and potentially boost his chances of a Super Eagles call-up if he chooses Nigeria.
Will his Premier League return and increased visibility improve his prospects of earning a Nigeria senior team invitation, or will he continue to weigh options with the USA and England?
