Former Manchester United and France defender Patrice Evra has declared he would "eat Lamine Yamal alive" if they competed during his prime playing days. The 45-year-old Frenchman asserts that Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi would back up his claim to overpower the Barcelona superstar in a direct matchup.

Evra, who played alongside Ronaldo at Old Trafford before the Portugal star's 2009 transfer to Real Madrid, told ESPN UK that "ask Cristiano, ask Messi, ask other players when they faced me, I am not a good friend" while claiming he would dominate Yamal during his peak performance years. The former fullback maintains players familiar with his playing style recognize how formidable an opponent he was throughout his career.

Yamil, who has a history of proving French critics wrong, notably responded impressively at Euro 2024 with what was deemed the goal of the tournament in Spain's semi-final win against France. The 16-year-old sensation had previously faced criticism from Adrien Rabiot before that match, responding with a standout performance that silenced his detractors.

Does Evra's confidence reflect genuine belief in his abilities, or is it generational arrogance about how football has evolved?
