The seat is currently occupied by Obi Aguocha of the Labour Party, who has also confirmed his intention to seek a second term. Chinedu Orji is from the Ibeku clan of Umuahia North LGA while Obi Aguocha is from Ohuhu clan also of Umuahia North LGA. While Orji is counting on his grassroots structure, Aguocha is depending on the popularity of the ruling Labour Party in Abia.
