Ex-AFAN, PAN Chairman Kabir Faskari Dies After Istanbul Surgery Complications
Former All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) and Poultry Association of Nigeria (PAN) chairman Kabir Ibrahim Faskari has died following complications from prostate surgery in Istanbul, Turkey. A close friend who visited him in the city confirmed his passing to DAILY POST, saying they spoke shortly before returning to Nigeria.
Faskari, who also served as Chairman of the Agriculture Business Group, was a prominent voice in Nigeria’s agricultural sector. He played key roles in farmers’ organisations, advocating for policies that support smallholder farmers and boost productivity across the value chain.
His death comes amid tributes from colleagues and stakeholders in the agribusiness community. Family sources indicate he is expected to be buried in Turkey, although exact burial arrangements were not immediately available as of press time.
The loss of a leader who dedicated decades to advancing farmers’ interests leaves a notable gap in Nigeria’s agricultural advocacy. Stakeholders say his contributions to sector dialogues and farmer empowerment will be remembered.
