Former Education Minister Obiageli Ezekwesili has defended Pastor Enoch Adeboye against growing public criticism, arguing he's not responsible for Nigeria's worsening challenges and shouldn't be made the focus of public frustration. In a statement posted on X Thursday, Ezekwesili acknowledged Nigerians' anger over insecurity, economic hardship and governance failures but said the frustration is directed at the wrong target. She explained that decades of systemic corruption and unfulfilled promises have created widespread distrust of politicians and institutions, with many citizens expecting religious leaders to demand accountability from those in power. Ezekwesili described the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God as a 'humble servant of God' who has consistently spoken and prayed for the country's progress. She warned against focusing on less important issues while more pressing national crises remain unresolved. Should religious leaders play a more active political role in demanding accountability from Nigerian politicians, or is their primary role spiritual guidance for the nation?
