FAAN Clears Bolt to Resume E-Hailing Services at All Managed Airports Nationwide

FAAN has cleared Bolt to resume e-hailing services at all its managed airports nationwide effective immediately, following a temporary disruption on August 26 caused by the new Airport Car Hire Rank Management System (ACHRAMS) requirement. The Authority confirmed reaching an agreeable operational framework with Bolt after constructive engagements, resolving the issue that had forced passengers to use more expensive airport taxis during the interruption.

During the disruption, passengers reported significantly higher fares—N55,000 to N70,000 for trips from Murtala Muhammed Airport (Lagos) to Lekki Phase 2 compared to the usual N25,000-N35,000 via e-hailing, and N30,000 for Ikeja business district trips versus the previous N8,000. FAAN clarified that ACHRAMS is merely a visibility and accountability system for authorized airport transport, not a fare-setting tool, and that the highlighted taxi rates existed prior to the system's introduction.

Bolt's clearance comes while FAAN continues discussions with other e-hailing operators like Uber to integrate them into the same framework. Passengers remain free to choose their preferred transport option within FAAN's safety and security guidelines for airport environments.
