Falz told Arise Television’s Prime Time programme on Tuesday that he has never openly supported Peter Obi, the NDC presidential candidate, or any other politician or party, either in 2023 or at any other time. He said he has consistently urged Nigerians, especially young people, to go out and vote, and that he advocates for a free and fair democratic process. The artiste noted that Nigeria’s political landscape feels like a cycle of recycling the same faces, making it hard to endorse any politician in 2026.

His clarification comes amid persistent speculation that Falz backed Obi during the 2023 elections, a claim he says is false. By distancing himself from partisan endorsements while urging voter participation, he speaks directly to a generation of Nigerians who feel disillusioned with the political class. The message is especially relevant as the country prepares for the 2027 general elections, where youth turnout could shape outcomes.

He encouraged citizens to focus on strengthening democracy rather than attaching to individuals, suggesting that voters study party platforms, demand accountability, and consider registering to vote if they haven’t already. The Independent National Electoral Commission’s continuous voter registration exercise remains open, and the next general election is scheduled for early 2027. With politicians often recycling power, Falz’s stance invites young Nigerians to decide whether to engage actively, stay home, or push for new alternatives.
