Family says The Eagle Online will continue after founder’s death
The family of Oladotun Oladipo, founder of The Eagle Online, announced on September 22, 2026 that the digital news platform will continue operating following his death on Tuesday, 25 August. Oladipo, who launched The Eagle Online in 2012, had established a business continuity plan before passing, which has now been activated and refined. The family described the platform as more than a business—a vehicle for responsible journalism and public service—and emphasized that existing relationships with advertisers, partners and readers remain vital. They urged continued support as they manage the transition and preserve Oladipo’s legacy while advancing the publication’s mission.
The Eagle Online has built a loyal readership and a broad network of advertisers and partners over the years. The family said they do not take that trust for granted and appealed for prayers and understanding during this period. “Dotun may have left us, but the work to which he devoted so much of his life will continue. The Eagle Online will continue to fly,” the statement concluded.
For readers and stakeholders, this means the outlet is expected to continue delivering news coverage, investigations and reporting. Advertisers can maintain their current arrangements, and the public can rely on the platform for the same standard of journalism it has provided since its inception.
