FCCPC: Airlines must provide food, hotels during flight delays
FCCPC declares passengers entitled to meals and hotel accommodation during prolonged flight delays in Nigeria, effective immediately. The commission states airlines have legal obligation to provide refreshments after certain waiting period, while overnight delays require hotel accommodation plus airport-hotel transportation.
According to FCCPC statement signed by Mr Ondaje Ijagwu, Director of Corporate Affairs, passengers also have right to timely information about delay causes and expected departure times. Airlines must comply with these requirements or face sanctions.
Passengers experiencing neglected delays should report violations to FCCPC, which reaffirmed commitment to protecting consumer rights across aviation sector. This affects all domestic and international air travelers in Nigeria. Know your rights: If your flight extends beyond scheduled departure, airlines must provide care.
