Feyenoord confirms Robin van Persie departure ahead of 2026/27 season
Feyenoord announced head coach Robin van Persie will leave after less than two years, effective immediately, as the club prepares for the 2026/27 season under a new manager. Van Persie was appointed in February 2025 on a contract running to 2027 and guided the team to a second-place Eredivisie finish and Champions League qualification.
Despite the Champions League return, internal review showed concerns over declining results and points accumulation, with Feyenoord finishing 19 points behind league champions PSV Eindhoven. Technical director Devy Rigaux acknowledged Van Persie’s contributions but said a change was needed to close the gap on PSV and strengthen competitiveness domestically and in Europe.
Van Persie recorded 30 wins in 58 matches during his 16-month stint. Feyenoord will now seek a new head coach ahead of the new campaign.
