FG Begins Disbursing 50% of 2025 Scholarship Allowances to Beneficiaries Abroad
Federal Government has started disbursing 50% of outstanding 2025 allowances to Bilateral Education Agreement (BEA) scholarship beneficiaries studying abroad, according to a Wednesday statement from the Ministry of Education. The funds have been successfully remitted to Nigerian embassies and missions for immediate disbursement to eligible scholars.
The announcement, signed by Education Ministry's spokesperson Boriowo Folasade and reposted by President Tinubu's media aide Bayo Onanuga, comes after beneficiaries complained about payment delays causing financial difficulties abroad. Minister Dr Tunji Alausa confirmed the payments represent half of the approved outstanding obligations for 2025, with efforts ongoing to settle the remaining balance.
Scholars have been urged to monitor their accounts as payments begin to reflect through embassy accounts. The disbursement reflects President Tinubu's commitment to Nigerian students' welfare under the Renewed Hope Agenda, as the FG reaffirms obligations to scholars despite the discontinued programme.
With this partial payment, what's your plan if the remaining 50% is delayed further—should scholars prepare additional financial buffers while studying abroad?
