FG deploys biometric VPASS system across Nigeria's domestic airports
Federal Government approves contactless biometric passenger verification system (VPASS) for all domestic airports nationwide. Minister of Aviation Festus Keyamo signed concession agreement following regulatory clearance from ICRC, AGF office, and Federal Executive Council.
The system addresses inconsistent passenger data from airlines and prevents unauthorized boarding practices. It extends strict identity verification (currently used for international flights) to domestic operations, closing security loopholes that allow bypassing standard identification procedures.
Implementation through concession arrangement will see infrastructure deployed before public sensitization. FAAN will collaborate on rollout. This affects all domestic air travelers as proper biometric verification becomes mandatory for boarding flights within Nigeria.
With stricter ID verification now coming to domestic flights, travelers should expect longer boarding times and ensure they have proper identification documents. Have you experienced issues with inconsistent passenger data when traveling domestically?
