The Federal Government is intensifying efforts to improve revenue collection and reduce leakages by engaging commercial banks to implement the Revenue Optimisation Assurance Platform (RevOp). The digital system was showcased at an Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation (OAGF) sensitisation workshop in Abuja on Friday.

Minister of Finance Taiwo Oyedele, represented by Permanent Secretary Mohammed Danjuma, explained that RevOp modernises government revenue administration by replacing manual processes. The platform provides a centralised system for agencies to generate bills, collect payments, monitor transactions, and report revenue in real time. Officials revealed over 70% of federal agencies have already been integrated into the system.

The initiative addresses implementation challenges, particularly inadequate understanding of the platform among banking personnel affecting customer experience. RevOp works through licensed payment service providers and commercial banks nationwide, enabling real-time monitoring and reconciliation of government revenues. The platform forms part of Nigeria's broader public finance reform programme to boost non-oil revenue and strengthen oversight.

Authorities expect the system to curb fraud, improve revenue tracking, and enhance confidence in government financial management. Integration with other digital financial systems is already underway across 31 ministries, departments and agencies.

How will this affect your tax payments, government fees, or business transactions with public agencies?
