FG raises N6.69 billion from its September 2026 Savings Bond, offering 14.12% annual interest on the two‑year instrument and 15.12% on the three‑year bond. The Debt Management Office allotted N1.282 billion to the 2‑year September 2028 bond and N5.408 billion to the 3‑year September 2029 bond, attracting 1,690 and 3,209 subscriptions respectively. The offer ran from September 7 to 11, 2026, with settlement set for September 16.

This issuance continues a strong retail‑investor appetite for government securities, pushing the year‑to‑date total raised through FGN Savings Bonds to about N40.5 billion—the highest monthly amount so far in 2026. The bonds are backed by the full faith and credit of the Federal Government, qualify for tax‑advantaged treatment, and provide a safe, predictable return compared with volatile market options.

Investors can buy in units of N1,000, with a minimum of N5,000 and a maximum of N50 million per person. Interest is paid quarterly on December 16, March 16, June 16 and September 16, and the principal is repaid at maturity (September 16, 2028 for the two‑year, September 16, 2029 for the three‑year). Given the higher rates than the August offer, consider whether locking funds for two or three years fits your financial goals and monitor the DMO portal for future issuance dates.
