FG releases 2026-2028 approved textbook list with QR tracking for Primary 1,4,JSS1,SS1
The Federal Ministry of Education published the final 2026‑2028 ranked and approved textbook list on Monday, September 28, 2026, covering Primary 1, Primary 4, Junior Secondary School 1 and Senior Secondary School 1. Each approved title now carries a unique QR tracking code that shows the book’s title, author, publisher and year of publication, allowing schools, parents and officials to verify authenticity and monitor distribution.
The QR system is meant to strengthen oversight, curb the circulation of unapproved or substandard books and improve transparency in procurement. It builds on earlier reforms that require standardised textbooks to stay in use for at least three years and encourage reusable materials lasting four to six years, aiming to ease the financial burden on families. The exercise was led by Minister of Education Dr Maruf Tunji Alausa and Minister of State Prof Suwaiba Sa’id Ahmad, with the next phase set to rank textbooks for Primary 2, Primary 5, JSS 2 and SS 2 using the same tracking approach. The ministry said generating and assigning the unique codes took time to complete and validate the lists, urging publishers, schools and education authorities to consult the official list before selection.
