Federal Government will repatriate over 1,000 Nigerians from South Africa starting next week through Air Peace, following President Bola Tinubu's approval of funds for the exercise. NiDCOM chair Mrs. Abike Dabiri-Erewa disclosed that the voluntary evacuation program is being jointly managed by Nigeria's High Commission in Pretoria and South Africa's Department of Home Affairs.

The screening exercise entered its third day on Saturday with a large turnout. More than 1,000 Nigerians have already registered, though registration remains ongoing. Five flights have been scheduled for the operation, with the first batch of evacuees expected to arrive in Nigeria next week.

The repatriation comes amid growing safety concerns for foreign nationals following recent anti-immigrant protests in parts of South Africa. Nigerians interested in the voluntary return program should contact the Nigerian High Commission in Pretoria for registration details as the evacuation process continues.
