FIFA distributes record $871M World Cup prize money: Spain gets $51M as champions

FIFA paid out $871 million in prize money to all 48 teams at the 2026 World Cup, the largest pool ever. Spain, as champions, received $51 million—$9 million more than Argentina's 2022 winner's prize. Runner-up Argentina got $34 million, while England and France earned $30 million and $28 million for third and fourth place.

Quarterfinalists Belgium, Norway, Morocco, and Switzerland each received $20 million. Brazil, USA, Portugal, Egypt, Colombia, and four other Round of 16 teams earned $16 million each. Germany, Cape Verde, Japan, Ecuador, and 12 other Round of 32 teams received $12 million. Teams eliminated in the group stage got $10 million each, plus $2.5 million for pre-tournament expenses.
