Fincart, an Egyptian startup, closed a $2.8 million seed round co-led by Launch Africa and Antler MENAP, with participation from Yango Ventures, Five35 Ventures, Bluestream Capital, Hi2 Global and Kalahari Venture Labs. The funds will scale its AI‑powered operating system for e‑commerce merchants, which combines logistics management, embedded financing and AI‑driven customer engagement after pivoting from a pure logistics tool. Fincart says it now serves over 450 merchants and has processed roughly EGP 1 billion (about $20 million) in merchandise value through automated shipping and cash‑on‑delivery reconciliation. Revenue comes from shipping fees and tiered software subscriptions ranging from EGP 1 584 ($31) to EGP 7 199 ($142) monthly. The startup plans to expand beyond Egypt starting in 2027, targeting Africa and the Middle East as Egypt’s e‑commerce market is projected to reach $20.15 billion by 2031. For Nigerian online sellers, this funding signals growing investor confidence in African e‑commerce infrastructure and hints at a future all‑in‑one platform that could replace the current jumble of shipping, payment and marketing tools. Will you consider switching to an integrated AI OS when Fincart launches in Nigeria, or will you stick with your existing fragmented stack?
