Flying Eagles midfielder Daniel Daga acquitted of sexual assault by Norwegian appeal court

Flying Eagles midfielder Daniel Daga has been acquitted of sexual assault by the Frostating Court of Appeal in Norway, bringing an end to 11 months of uncertainty in his career. The 19-year-old was previously sentenced to six months in prison by the Romsdal District Court after being found guilty of sexually assaulting a woman, and ordered to pay NOK 10,000 in legal costs. The appeal court has now overturned that conviction. Molde FK confirmed on Thursday that Daga is immediately available for team selection pending final judgment. The young midfielder was part of Nigeria's Flying Eagles squad at the 2023 and 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cups. This acquittal clears the way for him to resume his professional football career in Norway, where he has been on leave from club duties since September 2025. His representatives welcomed the decision, stating Daga looks forward to returning to competitive football.
