Former Big Brother Africa housemate Bayo Okoh has died, media personality Matilda Duncan announced on social media Saturday, sharing photographs of the late reality star but not disclosing the cause or circumstances of his death. Duncan expressed grief over what she described as the growing frequency of deaths in the entertainment industry.

Okoh represented Nigeria in the inaugural season of Big Brother Africa in 2003, where he was the only Nigerian economist among the 12 housemates. He stayed in the house for 91 days before being evicted, finishing seventh out of twelve contestants. The show, which ran for 106 days, was won by Zambia’s Cherise Makubale and marked the introduction of the Big Brother format to African audiences, helping establish reality television as a major entertainment form across the continent.
