Politics Former CoS to Fubara disowns alleged 2027 governorship ambition under ADC Published on March 29, 2026 By Ifunanya Obeme-Ndukwe googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1500386953281-8'); }); A former Chief of Staff to the Rivers State Governor, Edison Ehie, has dismissed as false and politically motivated a viral poster linking him to a purported 2027 governorship arrangement under the African Democratic Congress, ADC. In a statement issued on Saturday, Ehie described the claim, which suggests he would run as deputy governor alongside Dakuku Peterside as “mischievous” and an attempt to mislead the public and destabilize the state’s political climate. “Let it be stated clearly, firmly, and without ambiguity: this narrative is not only false, it is a calculated act of political propaganda designed to mislead the public, sow discord, and undermine the unity and stability currently being strengthened under the leadership of His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara,” he said. googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1524595905268-5'); }); Ehie reaffirmed his allegiance to the All Progressives Congress, APC, and reiterated his support for Governor Siminalayi Fubara, stressing that he remains committed to the administration’s peace and development agenda. “I have neither endorsed nor consented to any such political arrangement, and any claim to the contrary is nothing short of political fraud,” he added. Ehie warned against what he termed deliberate misinformation, noting that the inclusion of his name in the poster was unauthorized and misleading. He urged members of the public to disregard the material and focus on the state’s progress. “I stand where Governor Fubara has always stood: with the APC and with the people of Rivers State. Any attempt to suggest otherwise is dead on arrival,” Ehie declared. He maintained that Rivers State does not require “rescue from imaginary enemies,” insisting that the current administration is already delivering purposeful leadership and fostering unity. According to him, attempts to link him to alternative political platforms reflect desperation by individuals seeking relevance through false narratives.
