Nakudu, who contested the APC governorship ticket ahead of the 2023 general election, announced his exit from the party in a resignation letter addressed to party officials in Sundimina Ward, Birnin Kudu Local Government Area. Nakudu served in the Federal House of Representatives for two tenures (2007–2011) and (2011–2015) under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He also served as a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria between 2015 and 2019 under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
