Former Minister of Youths and Sports Solomon Dalung described President Bola Tinubu as the most unserious presidential candidate ahead of the 2027 election, saying Tinubu’s support does not reach 14 percent of Nigerians. Dalung made the remarks in an interview on the Mic On Podcast, published June 8, 2026. He argued that Tinubu underestimates the growing opposition and claimed there is no state where Tinubu can win, predicting Lagos will be a battleground between APC, NDC, ADC and PDP. Dalung also said Tinubu was defeated in 2023 and will lose worse in 2027 because he fails to learn from insecurity, hunger and frustration, which he believes are digging the president’s political grave. He accused Tinubu’s allies of shielding him and feeding him social‑media videos that create a false sense of support.

The comments reflect a stark opposition viewpoint as parties position themselves for the 2027 race, but they are not backed by any published poll or survey. Voters should treat such statements as opinion and seek independent data sources—such as reputable polling agencies or election monitors—to gauge actual support levels before deciding how the claim might influence their political engagement or voting decisions.
