The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has launched its 2026 Easter Special Patrol nationwide, running from April 1 to April 8, 2026. The operation deploys personnel and operational assets to major highway corridors to manage expected increased traffic during the Easter festive period. Critical routes identified include Lagos-Ibadan, Sagamu-Ore-Benin, Abuja-Lokoja, Benin-Auchi-Okene, Kaduna-Zaria-Kano, Ilorin-Mokwa-Birnin Gwari, Bauchi-Gombe, Onitsha-Asaba-Benin, Onitsha-Owerri, and Enugu-Aba-Port Harcourt corridors.

FRSC will intensify enforcement against traffic offences linked to road crashes: speeding, reckless driving and overtaking, overloading, lane indiscipline, mobile phone use while driving, tyre violations, road obstruction, mixing passengers with goods, seat belt non-compliance, child restraint violations, passengers’ manifest breaches, and use of unfit vehicles. To reinforce compliance, mobile courts will be deployed along major routes for immediate prosecution of offenders—meaning violations could lead to roadside fines or prosecution without delay.

The Corps has activated round-the-clock patrol, rescue, and traffic management services, supported by patrol vehicles, ambulances, tow trucks, and modern enforcement equipment. Public awareness campaigns will run via National Traffic Radio 107.1 FM and other platforms to provide travelers with real-time updates and safety information.

If traveling during Easter, expect increased FRSC checkpoints and zero tolerance for violations. Check if your route is among the monitored corridors, ensure your vehicle is fully roadworthy, and avoid all listed offences—mobile courts mean instant penalties. Use Traffic Radio 107.1 FM for live traffic updates and safety tips during your journey.
