Galatasaray has turned down transfer offers for Victor Osimhen as high as €125 million from clubs such as Real Madrid, Barcelona and Manchester United, according to Sport Turkey. To keep the Super Eagles striker, the Turkish champions plan to give him the team captain’s armband and the iconic number 9 shirt currently worn by Mauro Icardi, whose contract expires at the end of June 2026. Icardi’s expected departure would leave Galatasaray short on strikers, so the club hopes granting Osimhen both symbolic leadership and the prestigious jersey will deepen his emotional ties to the squad and discourage a summer move.

For Nigerian fans, Osimhen’s club future directly affects his availability for World Cup qualifiers and Africa Cup of Nations duties, as well as his market value and the pride associated with seeing a homegrown star excel abroad. A stay in Galatasaray could keep him in a competitive league but may limit the visibility that a move to a bigger European club would bring.

If Osimhen stays in Turkey, how might that influence his role with the Super Eagles in upcoming qualifiers, and would you prefer to see him chase a bigger challenge elsewhere despite the symbolic gestures Galatasaray is offering?
