Galatasaray reveals Arsenal shocked by Osimhen's €159m transfer deal
Galatasaray's vice-president Abdullah Kavukcu disclosed Arsenal's sporting director Andrea Berta was surprised by the financial commitment for Victor Osimhen. The Nigerian striker joined from Napoli last summer for €75 million, triggering his release clause after a standout loan spell.
Osimhen's contract includes a guaranteed annual salary of €15 million, plus €1 million loyalty bonus and €5 million from image rights annually. Over his four-year deal, Galatasaray's total obligation reaches approximately €159 million. Despite offers from Premier League and Saudi clubs, the Turkish champions secured his signature.
The 2015 FIFA U17 World Cup winner generates significant commercial value for Galatasaray. Kavukcu emphasized Osimhen's importance, stating: "I wouldn't sell him for €150 million" and highlighting three advertising deals worth €2 million each. "We anticipate generating around €22 million from his presence," Kavukcu added, noting the transfer has added substantial commercial rewards to the club.
With Arsenal's budget at €800 million compared to Galatasaray's €500 million, the financial structure reflects different approaches to securing top talent in European football.
