Gary Neville says Man Utd midfield duo lacks dynamism after Tottenham draw

Former Manchester United captain Gary Neville criticised midfielders Youri Tielemans and Kobbie Mainoo, saying their partnership lacks the dynamism needed for the club after United's 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League weekend. Neville, speaking on his podcast, said he has seen enough to doubt the duo can deliver the energy required, though he stopped short of calling for an immediate end to the pairing. He noted that when Carlos Baleba came on alongside Mainoo, the midfield looked more energetic.

The comments come ahead of United's Champions League fixture against Atletico Madrid scheduled for Tuesday, October 13, 2026. Neville's critique raises questions about manager Erik ten Hag's midfield options as United seeks to bounce back from the draw and secure a vital European result.

Will Ten Hag stick with Tielemans and Mainoo, give Baleba a starting role, or explore other midfield combinations before the crucial Atletico clash?
