The Gombe-led faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has demanded INEC immediately remove Senator David Mark's National Working Committee from its official portal following a court ruling that invalidated the committee's recognition and all its decisions as null and void.

In a statement issued Tuesday, the faction warned former Vice President Atiku Abubakar against presenting himself as the ADC's presidential candidate for the 2027 general election, stating he is neither the current nor ever has been the party's candidate. They gave Atiku a 7-day ultimatum to publicly apologize to ADC members and stakeholders for unauthorized statements, threatening legal action if he fails to comply.

The statement also called on the Inspector General of Police and DSS to arrest Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi for allegedly disseminating false information that could mislead the public and incite unrest. This escalates ongoing disputes over the party's legitimate leadership as the 2027 elections approach.

How will questions about party legitimacy influence your choice of candidates in the upcoming general elections?
