News Gov Idris mourns as two councillors, SSA die in road accidents Published on March 30, 2026 By Mikal Attah Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, has expressed profound shock and sorrow over the deaths of two councillors and his Senior Special Assistant, SSA, in separate road incidents. The deceased are Hadiza Sabo Wara, councillor representing Wara Ward; Sahabi Alheri, councillor representing Birnin Yauri Ward of Ngaski Local Government Area; and Abubakar Sadiq, SSA to the governor. The incidents occurred on Friday, March 27, 2026. Hadiza Sabo Wara and Sahabi Alheri died in a road accident while traveling to Abuja for the All Progressives Congress, APC, National Convention, while Abubakar Sadiq was fatally hit by a moving vehicle after his vehicle briefly stopped on the roadside during transit. In a statement released through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Alhaji Yahyah Sarki, Governor Idris described the deaths as “heartbreaking, painful, and a great loss not only to their families, but also to the government and people of Kebbi State.” “The untimely departure of these loyal and committed individuals is a painful reminder that death comes at a time known only to Allah,” he said. Governor Idris praised the councillors for their dedication to grassroots service and commitment to their communities. “Their contributions as councillors in Ngaski Local Government Area will continue to be remembered as steadfast commitment to public service and party growth,” he said. He also commended Abubakar Sadiq, describing him as a “vibrant, loyal and tireless social media operator who played a key role in promoting government policies and programmes through new media platforms.” On behalf of the government and people of Kebbi State, Governor Idris extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, local communities, friends, political associates, and the APC family. He prayed for mercy for the departed, and for strength, patience, and courage for their loved ones. “This is indeed a moment of grief for us all. We have lost committed and patriotic individuals who served with dedication. May Almighty Allah, in His infinite mercy, forgive them and grant their souls eternal rest,” the governor said.
