House of Representatives passed resolution summoning Defence Minister Christopher Musa, service chiefs, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, DSS DG Adeola Ajayi, Finance Minister Taiwo Oyedele and NIA DG Mohammed Mohammed to account for funds released to security agencies in last six months. Also urged President Tinubu to direct recruitment of forest guards in states experiencing insecurity, following model implemented in Oyo State. The summonses indicate parliamentary concerns about security spending transparency and accountability. Forest guards deployment could directly impact security situation in affected states. This represents increased legislative oversight of security governance as Nigeria continues addressing security challenges nationwide. Will this congressional pressure lead to more transparent security spending or just bureaucratic delays?
