Former INEC REC Mike Igini warns most National Assembly members may lose seats in 2027 due to unresolved electoral loopholes. He urges senators to address mandatory electronic transmission of results from polling units to INEC's Result Viewing Portal (IReV), citing high turnover rates in all previous assemblies. The Sixth Senate had 79% turnover, with only 23 returning members. Igini links this instability to incumbents' refusal to close rigging vulnerabilities, including Senate-proposed qualifications for direct electronic transmission. He notes governors denied tickets to many incumbents who still lost through result manipulation.
